Breakfast Club at Abacus

The Breakfast Club is led by highly qualified staff, who are trained in first aid, food hygiene and play work.  The Club is open every day, in school term time, from 7.50 a.m.

At Abacus we believe that it is vital for a child to begin the day happily, in a relaxed setting, well prepared for the learning and play which lie ahead.

At our Breakfast Club we offer a healthy and nutritional breakfast.  We serve a variety of cereals, yoghurts, fresh fruit, fromage frais and toast with a choice of spreads.  Fruit juice, milk and water are also offered.

Breakfast is followed by a period of play and activities, such as parachute games, ball games or skipping.  We also have a variety of board games, art equipment, books, puzzles and construction toys.

Research studies show that Breakfast Clubs have a positive effect on children, resulting in better behaviour, greater concentration, improved attendance and punctuality.  Children also demonstrate well developed social skills and confidence in interacting with children and adults alike.

The cost of each session is £2.50,.Upon application parents will be sent a registration form.  We will need to know about your child’s dietary needs, emergency contact numbers and other information to ensure that your child’s individual needs are met.

The Club aims to support all parents.  You may be able to get extra help with the costs via Working Tax credit if one or both parents work at least 16 hours a week.  Details of how to claim will be supplied with the registration form. You can find more information on www.inlandrevenue.gov.uk or by phoning 0845 9000 404.

At the start of the primary school day the younger members of the Club are escorted to their classrooms.  Pre-school children are accompanied by staff to the Nursery building.
